'I'll be home for Christmas'

Early this year, we decided that with 3 new babies coming in the fall and the COVID quarantine, that we wouldn't gather in cold and snowy Utah for Christmas. We made plans for a spring family reunion, and quiet Christmas celebrations in 3 different states.

Then on December 14th...Zimbabwe.

And on December 15th all the kids said, 'We're coming!'

By Christmas night, we were all together. We hadn't made any grand plans. With 6 babies under 3, we focused on the fun in between naptime and bedtime, and savored the simple things.

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace" - Isaiah 9:6

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. - Luke 2:11-14

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressionshe was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. - Isa 53:3-5

We know that the Almighty God could do His work without us, and we feel deep gratitude to Him for allowing us be a small part of it in a new spot of ground we've yet to experience. Our sacrifice feels small in comparison to some, and we know we will love Zimbabwe with all of our hearts, and that those who mean the most to us will be blessed.
